Sounds: Whoaaa Nellie!!!

I recently discovered a brilliant new young music artist. Her name is Nellie McKay and her Nellie McKaydebut album is called: Get Away from Me. I discovered her while listening to the tube on day.

I was flipping through the channels and caught the last bit of a news byte. They played a few clips from some of her tunes. She was alone at a piano. Nothing extravagant but what a voice! In a time when most of my new music discoveries are made though peer to peer network downloads, I rarely buy CDs anymore.

I bought the double CD a few days later. Man, was I not disapointed. Her style is very hard to nail down. On some tunes she gives off Sarah or Tori vibes but others are a mix of what I would have to call a cross between Emminem and Miles Davis. Hard to imagine what that could sound like? Give her a try - you won't be sorry.

Well, looks like Artoo's is back. For those of you who don't know, I used to run a Bulletin Board System back in the late 80s to early 90s. It was called Artoo's BBS. I ran it off my dad's 286 computer using a 2400 baud modem. It was my little web space before the web existed as we know it today.

To learn a little more about the history of Bulleting Board Systems (BBS), I encourage you to visit the BBS Corner. A great little site dedicated to the what preceded personal websites.
